OEM rims that fits alero

I am thinking of getting 17 inch Grandprix GTP rims... main reason is that the tire I'm trying to buy doesn't come in the right size for 15 and I also don't want the aftermarket look. Any suggestions? Anyone else here has some OEM 17 5x115 or 114.3 that fits well and doesn't have a huge logo in the middle?

What tire are you looking for?

There are tons of GM wheels that will fit... Almost anything FWD that isn't a j-body and even some RWD. Lots of other cars have the 5x114.3 as well. Logos are no big deal, you can replace those. My wheels were originally on a CTS.

why OEMs with your autocross fetish i would think aftermarket rims would be a much better choice....

does not want the look, but i second the fact that you love to autoX, so aftermarket would be better

Why not 16"?

Either way, this style would look good with a set of olds center caps (or blank ones)

Why? I don't really see the advantage of aftermarket in autocross. Lighter rims do increase acceleration but have hardly anything to do with handling. Shorter tire/wider rim however has positive effect by giving you a stiffer side wall. Other than the looks, I can get a set of used OEM rims for $200 with the money I'm saving, I could have a set of wet tires too!

Again the shorter the side wall the stiffer the tire and also my choice for 16 inch and dunlop z1 would be 225-50-16 vs. 225-45-17 which seems to be a closer fit.

BTW just finished my first auto-x after the mods (shocks, springs, and front swaybar) I'll report my findings once the results are up.

Found 17 inch GTP rims for $200 next to mint condition. Worth it?

how wide are they though? and 225 width is the stock alero tire width size, so i really don't see what you are gaining other than a shorter sidewall.....

Mine came with 215 as well (not a nice alero lol) but the main thing about tire grip is the tire design and compound. For an every day driver who lives in a rainy area, the dunlop z1 is the best street tire I can get.

I hate to turn this into a tire grip vs. width thread but tire width has little to do with grip... most of the time you will get a little more grip and sometimes you actually loose some grip by going wider.... many variables to consider.
