Problem with the 3400

This morning I tried to start up my car to find that it would no start but there was full charge in the battery. The Cluster went crazy and the radio would not turn on at all. I let it sit for a few and then tried again and nothing changed. I hooked it up to a booster pack and the car started up and ran fine while on the pack, about 1 min after I took off the pack the engine started to shake and the rpms went around 900 and it was moving around between 1000 - 800 range while in idle. after about 30 sec of that it started to sound sick like it was having a hard time staying running and then soon after that about 15 sec the car would make a funny hissing sound from the CAI and then rock around a bit and turn off like it was out of gas or something but it was really moving the engine around. I turned the car back on and it did it again but this time I tapped the gas a very little bit. The RPM and engein looked and sounded like I floored it and that lasted about 7 sec and then it did it all over again and died. The car ran fine the night before and now this. Could a rat or something small enough to get into the 2.5 inch pipe that was just installed for the exhaust caused this problem? It also seems like there is not a lot of exhaust coming out but that could just be me. No SES or CES light is on. Oh also when the engine is dying the lights go dim and bright on the tails.

Any ideas?

I had a problem similar to that, only my car stayed on, revs jumped between 800 and 1600. Loud knock coming from inside. Check your oil, make sure nothing is up your exhaust, though it sounds more like something inside the block itself.

Then again, the 3400 is just full of nice costly presents

If something were up my exhaust and it was not allowing free flow and caused a pressure would it not want to shut off the car?

Could it be the cars computer? I have had a bunch of issues with my car like this over the past little while.

no stereo etc... i'd think it were a wiring problem, either a touchy connection or bad wire.

As far as it running on the pack (?), you say it ran a bit and then died off again? What was the voltage at the battery during and after that situation if you took it? Does the battery still show a full charge? Did the alternator push out properly?

It makes no sense that the car ran fine with the jump pack connected to the battery while the battery still has good voltage. Unless the battery has bad cells and can't push the starter load.

I didnt have a ton of time to play around with the car, we were under the gun to get back home. The battery is only a month old and is working just fine. I have a gut feeling something is wrong with the cars computer. The car sometimes acts like its got a glitch and the only way to get it to start sometimes is to totaly remove the battery for a few mins and hook it back up. It just does not add up that the car was working 100% fine the day before and then a huge problem like this without any real driving being done. I am going to call up a service center and get the car looked at. I think it needs to be hooked up to a computer to see whats going on and maybe we will get a better idea of whats going on. If anyone has any more ideas please post it may be something so simple and easy to fix. Thanks

I tried to drive the car last night to get it to the shop but it was really acting up. There was a burning smell almost like wires on fire around the back left side of the engine bay and the battery termanals were super hot as well. Long story short I had to call a tow truck to pick the car up and it was a bitch and a half to get it on the bed because of how low the car is. Funny thing was as soon as the truck got there the car ran just fine! They are going to hook the car up to a computer and take a look to see whats going on I am thinking the same thing they are about the computer glitching out on me but who knows till its all hooked up.

Will post more when I hear more from the shop.

That is how this all started. I have not gotten my car back yet because I am having some more work done to it so I have no clue if everything is back to norm but could something this small cause all these problems?

I am getting air for my car. I never want to have to hunt down a tow truck that is able to tow my car because of how low it is. Cost double as much to tow as well. sucks but thats life I guess.
