power steering problem?
when the car is either going really slow, or not moving, such as pulling into a parking space, or straightening the wheel to back up or something, and i have the steering wheel turned to one side, the car seems to shudder, and rpms drop fairly noticably. i figured it might just be the power steering pump drawing power, but sometimes its very noticable, and i wasnt sure if something could be on its way out. as far as i know all power steering parts are original, and ive got over 161k on the car. hopefully its nothing big. also, ive checked the power steering fluid, and its fine, so i know its not that. any help wud be good. thanks.

Unless you have the steering fully turned to the left or right, there should be no notice of shuddering or lose of RPMs. So, yeah, I'd say something is not quite right.

ok. most of the time i think it is turned most of, if not all the way to one side, or i am idleing, and turning the wheel quickly to straighten out or whatnot. so the more i think about it, the more it seems like its nothing that bad. i think im just starting to get paranoid because the damn things got 161k on it, and financially right now i cant really have anything go wrong with it. hopefully its all just in my head, but if not, i know all u guys (and few gals) on here will be able to help. thanks

Yeah, cover the basics first. Check the fluid, make sure your serp belt isn't bad/slipping on the ps pulley, etc. Also what charley said about not losing rpm's.

well it doesnt whine or anything, and ive checked the fluid level, and anything else related under the hood. i think its just me being paranoid about every little thing on my car. and actually its been better since i posted the problem, so i think it was/is all in my head. thanks tho.
