whats a good caliper?
I'm going to be replacing my front calipers. I want something good. I don't know about them so I dont know if there is a brand better than another? im assuming I dont need loaded since I have new pads waiting? also I noticed some places sell with or without mounting bracket? and so many places sell remanufactured i never trusted that any tips brands etc would be greatly appretiated before I go buy new ones.

do a camaro brake swap up front, you can get the beefy 2piston calipers and the oversized rotors but you need atleast 16" or 17" rims for clearance
you need the 2 calipers, 2 caliper brackets, 2 sets of pads for the calipers and then everything will bolt right up, the rotors you need come from an impala (although i cant seem to remember the year of it, '05 IIRC}

99% of the calipers your going to buy are going to be reman'd. If your getting stock equipment, get the caliper from Napa.
I went through 4 from Autozone... all crap outta the box.

With my new rims I need new calipers/pads/rotors as well because it simply looks like a clear silver sheen over a pile of crap lol. Do you have to paint your own or do some brands come colored?
I don't know how I feel about oversized rotors...other suggestions?

i want to do the corvette brake swap myself. as long as you don't want to go back to 15" rims, i dont see a problem doing it.
only problem for me is finding calipers for a decent price. i can get camaro mounting brackets from a junk yard i'm sure for cheap. and brake pads and rotors aren't expensive
