windshield
Hello all,
Just wondering if anyone on here has ever had their windshield replaced on their Alero? I was on vacation last week and a rock hit my windshield and broke it. The crack keeps getting bigger and bigger each day and is almost from the bottom to the top. I called my insurance company and they are sending a company to my work to replace it Wednesday. I am just curious if anyone has every had any issues with a NON factory windshield? My insurance company says they have a lifetime warranty so who knows. I just hope it is done right.

windshields are windshields. Just had mine changed out 2 months ago. the lifetime warranty is for aganist leaks and stuff. Mine replaced with PPG glass the company used. Each company uses a different brand. If u want OEM brand windshield.. call up each place and asked to see if they have "LOF" brand glass. thats what the OEM is. PPG glass is good too.

aftermarket windshields are just fine
the main concern is to watch the installer if he wear gloves needs to wear them
the oil on our hands will give the window urathene a improper bond, it will crack and in a collision it will fail to do its job
so watch if he wears gloves

if it is a good auto glass place, you should be fine. Just check for leaks, that is pretty much the only way they can screw it up. Also, good glass shops should be able to match the stock tint pattery for the top of the windsheild. When I had my buick's windshield replaced, they asked me what kind of tint I wanted on it, because the original windshield's was very short.

Mine was replaed with an aftermarket windshield and I haven't had any issues. I would have never guessed it wasn't OEM until I read the little print in the corner.

Well I got the new one yesterday, and it seems to be fine. It even has the black area around the mirror. They done a good install. They even replaced the all of the rubber molding around the windshield, and installed fresh wiper blades.

Oh man, you busted my bubble. I thought I was special because I got the new moldings included. I just thought they would reuse the old ones.
