i have two questions. the first one has anyone had problems with the police because of there pinstriped tail lights? i don't think it is illegal but i just wanted to know before i go and do it. the second one is what color should i get. i have a tan colored car but if it helps my windows have 15% tint on it and maybe i should get black to match the windows. do i just go to autozone to get the pinstriping?

I've yet to have a problem with any authorities with regards to my tail lights, but I supose that totally depends on how strict your local laws are. If your windows are tinted, I'd say the black would look nice.  And for your last question: The pinstriping is available @ almost any auto parts store, just make sure you buy 2 rolls, as 1 roll one do the job. ( I know that from experience, and I felt goofy driving back to town with the job 1/2 done. )

^ Glad to see that I wasn't the ONLY one who didn't buy enough the first time I was taking back roads and side streets to get back to Advance so that nobody would see me 
But anyway, yeah I'd say black would look good on your car. Let us know how it goes and if you have any questions.
One tip real quick though, make sure you go around the outsides with more pinstripe, like others have probably done. I didn't do that and now mine are starting to look kinda crappy. I'm gonna have to do that soon. |

yeah... it does look pretty good huh? looks like i'm going to be switching mine too black....not a lot of people on here liked mine white!! Good job BTW....did you do it the long way and use something to make sure it was straight? or did you eye-ball it?

That does look good.
Yeah Zee, change yours to black.. looks much better imo. No offense but the white just looked weird. It made the rear just blend together, if you will.
I think, since I'm going to go over the ends of mine, I'm going to get a thinner pinstripe and add to mine to give it more of a black out look. What do you guys think about that?

^Don't do that just because some people said it didn't look good! I think white looks way better than black on a white car. The black makes the tail lights look enormous.

But with black windows, the black tails would just look better. White just looks too plain... imo.

yeah...you're right Marie! it does blend together. my windows aren't tinted yet...will be soon!! i just got a quote for $140!! which i thought that wasn't too bad...life time warrenty too!! i think i'm going to go that today!! that's if it doesn't rain. |

That would be interesting... I wouldn't cutout ALERO unless you take off the chrome lettering, though. And olds symbol where I had my cutout would be cool.

yeah...i debaged everthing...but i liked how you did yours. sucked that it went crappy on ya! but its gonna be interesting to see if i can successfully cut out the olds symbol...i think i'm going to try it on my current strippes before i take them off so i can see how it looks!

Kurt.. here's a tip: I took a piece of the pinstriping and outlined my design. That kinda gives you a stencil to work with.
I also doubled up the striping over the area where my cutout was. It helps with contrast... See the smaller stripes in between the 1/4 inch ones? I also cut them to taper so it sort of fades around the cutout.
