Do you want to upgrade to navigation or DVD etc..., or just different?

That's a cool display for the iPod. I don't think I would ever go with a single-DIN on my Alero though.

The pioneer AVIC F900BT is nice.

the DAC will make your stuff sound great! my kenwood 25th anniversary cd deck has the burrbrown DAC and although i normally prefer alpine (the ones i've had don't have the DAC) and don't prefer kenwood in general, this makes it the best sounding deck i have ever had.

that alpine looks kickass - kinda pricey, though!

Alpine CDA-9886 or 9887. They have 4V Pre-Outs.

i have the Alpine CDA-9884 and i love it. i got it for 200$ from a local car audio store. it's more expensive on the site.

but anyway... yeah. the radio is cool. has a lot of cool functions, ipod, cd, bla bla. it's not too expensive either. plus it's easy to use. get it.

This is a very good idea, and I've been thinking the same thing myself. I don't use CD's at all now. Everything is on my mp3 player. I am planning on going with a unit similar to this, maybe not this expensive and mounting a 250 to 350gb 3.5" shock proof external hardrive in the glove box, and just run that. I haven't used a CD in about 2 years.

hd radio is great, there are up to 3 feeds per station. the sound is better too and the song info is displayed.

what sucks is that not all the stations here broadcast in hd yet.

i mainly got hd cause radio free hawaii (best station ever - they play any song the listeners request no matter the genre) was reborn and started being broadcasted as a second feed for one of the major stations here (radio free had closed down in the late 90s).

HD is free as opposed to xm or sirius

Well, it's not like you can get that far from the radio tower in Hawaii.... That's where HD is teh sux. Just like DTV.

there's valleys that block stations depending on your location. the QUALITY of the sound is cd quality for fm and a lot better for am.

plus you get song info and there can be up to 3 substations per station. depends on the area/main station, though.

i would not be surprised if in a few years they stop broadcasting the analogue radio and switch to entirely digital. so far only a few stations here use HD.

shit's cheap, under a hundred bucks if you got an HD capable headunit.
