Tire Size And Rim Problems

Hey all.

I've got this little problem. Looking for 16" Rims (by 7.5). The only thing is, I need rubber to fit to them with a radius of right around 26 x 8 inches. Black steel rims, similar to the picture attached. The thing about the rim in the picture is that it's from a Safari, but that's the best example I can find for the pattern. The other issue is that most rims with that pattern are RWD, and the offset is all screwed up. Does anyone know:

1. Will a 26 inch radius fit without rubbing? And,
2. Is there a black steel rim out there that looks something like what is pictured?

A 26 inch radius tire? That wouldn't fit on any car, let alone an Alero. Well, you might be able to get them on mobs's jeep, but..... Do you realise that a 26 inch radius tire would be over 4 foot tall? ( 4 foot 4 to be exact ) Not to mention that on only a 16" wheel, that's a whoooole lotta sidewall dude. I'm hoping you mean diameter.

Good luck finding the rims though man, You have a GL, right? Maybe look into getting some of the stock 15" steelies and painting them. It might be your easiest and cheapest option.

my bad, 26 inch diameter... whoooo, that was emberassing... anyway, the stock rubber on the 15" rims I have are 24.9 inches...

It's all just boiling down to a rim. 15 x 7.5 or 8, or a 16 x 7.5 or 8... either one will work... just a matter of finding the pattern without a rediculous offset...

lol I still think your best bet is to paint up a set of the 15" steelies. That's also good for using your current tires, too. If you DO intend on buying wheels, make sure you check the info in this thread first:Alero rim and tire info

I was just thinking of that link (tire size calc)! It works great, especially if you look at the side view.

looks like for a 15x7 wheel, 225-55/15 works good, 15x8 would probably use 245-50/15. 16x8 = 245-45/16. play around with it, see if you like the results.

and when you're shopping for the wheels/tires, check out tire-rack. Click through the link on the front page of this site, (it helps out Naich) plus, I never heard anything bad about tire-rack, except for the rare case of "out of stock on a certain size/style".

THIS is the style of rim that would be PERFECT... <_< except, it wont fit and the offset leaves 2 3/4 inches of tire outside... <_<

ANY ideas or rims that anyones seen that are close to this?

I would suggest going into a performance shop in your town with that picture above and asking them if they know of any wheel that is similar that will fit your car.

^ and the rim you posted, I don't think those are made in the correct offset, but I'm not sure. Ask a tire store *cough* discount tire company *cough* to see what they say.

if yo ugo to some rim stores, they have oldschool rims, that are in 15's and 16's. i saw a few like that where i went to.
