Was it a Electrolytic cap that blew or a Ceramic? Kind of hard to tell from the pic but I would assume elctrolytic..but just Fyi, there is a manufacturer that has been selling some dud caps, that are expanding and leaking due to bad temperature stability...I'll see if I can find the name again, but they were electrolytic caps. Hopefully there is no residual damage from that cap blowing, should be a good project!

No schematic, huh?

and yes.. wiring it backwards is like putting a pipe bomb in your trunk. Thats why most big caps have that little "turkey tester" thing that pops up when its going to blow. You see that... you run.

Turkie is dun! wait DAIYUM!!! (boom)

speaking of blowing up electronice... i seen a dude trying to start a bronco II... hooked the power cables up backwards or something... got in the cab and cranked it and the battery exploded... it was way louder than a shot gun and sent plastic shrapnel and battery acid flying everywhere... he's lucky he didn't have someone in the cab trying to start it for him

12v shouldn't be that bad. I've heard 120v is just about perfect to stop your heart. I got a 120 volt shock once and I jumped like 3 feet in the air involuntarily.

its not the voltage (thats just what hurts) its the current. 1F is ALOT of current.

i've been hit by 120V multiple times. makes my arm tingle, but thats about it. 3kV REALLY hurts.

The higher the voltage the further the electric can "jump".

The higher the amperage the more you die.

Thats as simple as it gets. lol

3kV aint shit
Try putting your hands on a backlight inverter on a big screen LCD panel. 15-20kV. At that point it doesn't sting it more or less boils your skin instantly.

yeah... mine wasn't that bad. it was an electric fence to keep horses contained. it locked up my arm, and blew it back behind my head.

most stun guns run 10-30k
