Aftermarket speaker advice

Hey everyone.

My mom has a 2000 Alero 4dr sedan. She recently had a left front speaker blow and needs a replacement. I thought the replacing the speakers would be easy as getting new ones from best buy or something but after reading some it sounds like the stock system is very... different.

I would like some advice on a good middle of the road replacement system. i'm not sure of she has the monsoon amp. she also will want a new headunit later on down the road as well.

Can i just go and buy a component system with a new head unit for the front and regular 3 way speakers for the back?

I'm having a hard time understanding how the stock system is hooked up. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks!

Mike

Look behind the carpet in your trunk on the driver's side and tell us if there is a black box.

Ryan from Ohio will become famous soon enough
If its not monsoon just goto a local junk yard and get a replacement GM 4X6 speaker and be done.

The Alero isnt to n00b friendly coming to installs in the front.

If you are very handy then get a set of 5.25" comps or coaxials if you dont want to mess with the tweeters.

If your less handy get a set of 4X6 plate speakers or just 4X6 speakers and be done.
