Epic Alero Fail

Tried to clear the corners today.
Started by trying to separate the grey and main front piece, I'm not sure if it was too hot(82 DEG F) but I worked for a good hour and a half on one assembly and couldn't separate it.
I'm not sure if I didn't heat it up enough (5 mins) or if it was too hot, but I got tired of trying and put new silicone on it and put it back in.
Any advice besides what is stated in the How To Section on doing cleared corners?

no, that how to is flawless.

it being hot is better, obviously, you're trying to loosen the silicone and pry it apart, just use a screwdriver and a hair dryer and go at it. not too hard

i did oven on LOW... just stick around. if your prone to having "oOH! shiny!" syndome, then don't do it.

mine took about 7-10 min and came apart like butter.

82 degrees is not going to melt anything, you'll nee hotter than that.

Did you pull up on the little plastic clips that help hold the two sections together? Something I would also recommend doing is to mask off the lense area so you don't get all gooey crap on the lense of the headlight. It will make cleanup much easier.

but yes, cherry is right, the oven works wonders, but i suggest using gloves cause its easy to pry apart as soon as its outta the oven but its a bit hot and a pain to hold when it is, just makes things that much faster and painless

oven on warm 5minutes. dont need gloves.. just pull apart like there was never something holding them together

But a warning if you use the oven.... DO NOT forget about it. we had a member melt his housing. (kinda goes w/o saying though)

ill try the oven tecqunique next time
it may have just been my impatience, idk i am kinda prone to oohh shiny syndrome, but once i start something i agitate myself if i dont finish it
how many deg. is "warm" in the oven?

Nah, theres some years of alero that were a pain. I know that mine took three time in the oven for each assembly at 200 degrees and the stuff was still sticky as hell. Also, there was just tooo much of that crap in my headlights.
