the latest project...6.5 door pods

I started yesterday morning. had to make a mold of the door for the back of the pod. the pocket on the door is gone (never used it just collected dirt) so here is what i have done so far

taped up the back so I don't have resin fall out !!!!

from front sticky part of tape

foil it tape help it stay in place. start layin glass (I did 3 layers course woven roven, fleece, another layer of woven roven about 1/4 thick total )

cut rings out of mdf (with my retro old craftsman jigsaw awsome tool got it from my uncle for $5 he likes me thats when sears made good heavy tools )

still working on the lay out of the cross over not sure how to put it (straight with the door bottom or line up with the arm rest ) I goin to put plexy glass under it with les so it has a glowing ring around it

thats where Im at today going to finalise lay out and stetch some fleace and glass it up hopfully later today.

I wanted to put the cross over on the door cause I like the way it looks. it will be sitting on frosted plexy with blue leds under it. If I dont like it I will start over

I did some triming and cut a hole so I could mount the speaker further in to the door. I wrapped it in fleece but had school tonight so didn't resin it up tomarrow is another day

thanks for the feed back

Lookin good, I love good FG work!

Whenever you do suicide the rear doors make sure to document it good... I've never seen a good write up on a 4 door car and I'm curious to see how people do it (probably more difficult that the flat rear edge on an s-10 I'm willing to bet?).

ohhhh.. if its done correctly.. it would be just as strong. They're alot of 4dr compact cars w/ suicide doors.

heres my friends malibu from missouri.

the Hinges!
Shaved handles and body line.

Door is reinforced w/ 3/8" thick plates at where the hinges mount on the door and door jams. So definately backing that poop up. Or else the door will fall off cuz the stock sheet metal is really thin.
