Well, today I noticed that both of my tweeters are blown, something just really sounded different with my music. I've read about people going aftermarket, but there is always some mention of a stock or aftermarket headunit. About 3 months ago, I put in an Alpine 9831 deck and am wondering if this is the reason they are blown. I'm guessing yes, but now for the next step. If I go aftermarket, which I will, do I need to something more than tweeters that can handle this extra power? I've seen people talking about resistors and all, just need to know if I need them with new tweeters... On a different but related subject, my passenger door speaker (aftermarket too) blew, yet the driver side didnt. The balance and fade are at both at zero, just wondering why one blew and not the other...Any help is appreciated..Thanks

whats your budget?

cause you might as well get an amp and replace all your stock speckers. In the end you will be way happier.

When i got my new alpine speakers (well worth getting... look on Ebay for good prices on NEW ones.) on the box for the 6x9's it said to disconnect any other tweeters, cuz there is a high peformance one built in or something. It didnt want them to be working in parallel, w/e that means. so we disconnected the stock ones. maybe thats it i dunno.

my passenger side stock speaker blew too, btw.

I dont really want to spend a lot, gonna leave the stock 6x9's, already have a sub and amp, pretty much just want to get back to where I have 6 functioning speakers instead of the current 3.

Also, I pulled out one of the tweeters and on the back it says its 6 ohm, yet all the tweets I find on the internet are rated at 4 ohm impedence. Will those work? Or are they gonna blow right away?

i got type R 6x9's and type S 4x6's, both two ways, for under $200 shipping incl. off ebay. they werent the cheapest ones on there, cuz u have to read b/t the lines, make sure you get new, not refurbished, speakers with the factory warranty. very great speakers...had them for about 2 months now.
and dont buy factory speakers in replacement.. i called the dealer about getting one 4x6 a while back, they were around 70 bucks for one, but are supposed to be replaced in pairs. a TOTAL ripoff.

Just looked at the Type S 4x6's on ebay, they look pretty decent, so its probably what I'm gonna get...But damn, $23.99 for shipping? WTF? But at least there is a warranty and they are new, not refurbished

That still seems high to me for ground shipping. My alpine deck was $25 for 3 day air. But hell, thats the way ebay pretty much works..Low prices, but high shipping...

You happen to know anything that would help solve my "tweeter" questions I mentioned earlier???
