Amp mounting

I am getting ready to install my amp, comes UPS today, and my subs. The amp is a JVC KS-AX3101D and the subs are a MTX terminator enclosure (2-12" subs)
I will be running them at 400W RMS total. My question is can I mount the amp on the box with rubber washers? Can i mount it on top or on the backside of the box. I would prefer to mount on the backside as my current ground wire for my 10's isn't long enough to reach the new amp if I mount it on top.

I know that it's good to have the ground wire as short as possible. I have it on a ring terminal using a seat bolt for the ground. I am worried that mounting the amp on the backside of the box, up against the rear seat, will cause it to not get enough ventilation to cool. If I mount it on top it will sit between my 6x9's.

Any suggestions would be great. I would really prefer to mount it to the box as I want some trunk space. My current set up is Bazooka. 2-10" and a amp that powers them 95W a piece. Amp been mounted to top of box for last 11 years but it's a small set up. Not sure I can do that with new set up.

I also thought about mounting it on the driver side of the box where my wires come into the trunk. It would be sturdier and wouldnt take any direct hits from the subs. Should be enough space in the trunk of my alero to do that.

On box itself. Or on back of seat.

Thanks for the replies guys. depending how things look in the car I am leaning towards the side of the box but mounting it on the back will look cleaner. I am just worried about cooling with it being between the sub box and back seat

You could always install some fans near the amp to have some air moving around. It doesn't really matter where it's mounted, whatever works best for wiring, cooling, etc.

For the ground wire, I would find another spot, not the seat bolt. My previous system of around 600-700 rms for bass completely shut off on me because of the ground. Grounding to the strut tower should work best.

Thanks. I had a pro do this install. I will move the ground when I can get to my tools next week. I am in tech school and my stuff is at the school. Mounting the amp on the back would look cleaner and all the wires would be hidden then.

I never have an issue with temps and I' am running a Kenwood 8105D at 500rms/1000 peak thru the Jackhammer dual 12"s box. I wouldn't put screws into my seatbacks but that's just me. It looks super clean on the back of the box. I have pictures here in this section somewhere. I' am at work so can't post pics.

Mounted my amp on the driver side of my box. Looks clean and makes for easy tuning and adjustment of my amp.

I understand that people don't want to out the screws into the seats... for me i didn't want to put the holes in my box... it was custom made for my car and there wouldn't have been the clearance to have it on the top... that and i have 3 amps running everything ... i used 3/4" drywall screws to mount them and the carpet on the seat back actually bit on the threads so they're good and tight... been there for 7 yrs now and no issues... but yes, it's all personal choice on what and where you like them!!

O.P. yours looks good on the side of the box...

I didn't think there was enough structure in the seats.
Thanks for thinking mine looks good. Gives me more trunk space too.

What if you screw a nice piece of plywood to the seat back to give your amps a platform to sit on

Amps look good. If I had that many amps I would probably use the seat too after making a plywood support for it all. You must have one good alternator and battery.
