custom sub box

I'm making myself a custom sub box for the corner of my trunk (I know it isn't gonna be perfect doing it myself). I've figured out my volume of the mock-up box, the real one will have a little less than 1/2 inch inside area than the mock up. The most volume i can get out of the space i'm working with is 1.0423 ft cubed. The specs for my sub are below. I REALLY want to have a ported box, how much difference does it make if its a bit less volume than it needs for a ported box?

Well you can cheat it... By stuffing it loosely with polyfill

It all depends honestly. if you can graph it, you will see.

polyfil like he crap in pillows what it does it it slows down the waves in the box and makes the sub think its in a bigger box and it will sound like it too

yea i was thinking about polyfil. I've heard from some places that it helps a lot and from other places that it doesn't do shit. Any personal experience?

Ive read over actual tests in a suitable environment. It does work, but theres a threshold.

You can make your box appear to be about 20%ish larger than what it actually is by loosely stuffing the inside with Poly Fill. Just keep it away from the sub, dont pull out wads of it. Stretch it out of the bag...

appearing 20% larger would get me almost right on what i supposedly need for a ported box. Thanks!

So i went ahead and ordered my new system. And now that my bank account is considerably lighter, here's the stuff.

Plus a Kicker sub grill, a 2" diamater and 4" long port tube, and a pound of polyfil. Can't wait to get it installed, its gonna pound!
O yea for the amp power output, i'm running the 2 ohm option on the sub, not the 4 ohm DVC option.

Good luck with the krapwood amp. Never liked kenwood much.

Also you may want a bigger port. 2" is a bit small for a sub that capable. I would of went 3" maybe even 4" if room is available.
