lol that has been discussed like trillion times :P
The deal is to get red showing through the tint... then you should be fine. But again depends on your local pig office.

Ok so i had mine tinted for a while, i did mine way to dark. You could hardley not even see the red come thru. I got pulled over for it, but the pig did not give me a ticket for it, but he told me i had to fix it.
Also if you do it, and decide that you dont like it, or get a ticket for it, you just need to use gas or rubbing alchol and the tint comes right off, thats how i got my tails to stock again.

Tint them, disable your DRL's, and drive with your parks on so there's always some red light showing from the rear...don't drive like a jerk and you should be ok...I left my 3rd brake light unmolested just so there's no confusion with the person behind me weather I'm stopping or not. I didn't do mine myself, I traded my cores with a member here for his tinted lenses...I wasn't sure at first if I was going to like them or not, but man-o-man now that I've had them on the car for a few months I wouldn't get rid of them for anything...other than a set of AnderbrA'a of course...

Good now take Alero and Oldsmobile off leave the badge...and a good tip to keep the tinted look flowing, get 3rd brake light overlay. I have one that says 3400SFI. Uh get whatever you want (ex. Aleromod.com, Alero, Twin Cam, whatever).
