question on hid conversion

what color temp is best for our aleros? i know that color temp can vary depending on the vehicle. like a 12000k may look different in a alero than in a lexus or a jetta.

12k would be extremely purlple color. it all depends what you want really. 6k would be a pretty bright white with some blue tint

I use 4300K in my low beams and 3000K in my foglights. Very happy with http://www.mobilehid.com.

i buy from richie, here are pics of my grand prix using 6000k

stick with 6000k

8000k if you want the "hid look" of true blue and such.

6000k if you want extremely bright performance and clean white.

10000 or 12000k if you want lots of color and you never drive it in the rain.

4300k if you like it really yellow, also the brightest color.

take your pick.

4300K is the whitest and brightest for any car and is what comes on any factory HID equipped car you see on the road. If you like a little blue, go with 5000K. After that it gets too blue. Contrary to what some people may think, the higher number does not mean the light is brighter. The higher the number, the more blue/purple the light becomes.

I wouldn't go any higher than 5000K myself, it starts getting more blue after that. Color temp does not depend on the vehicle. You can use any color on any car, however putting HID's into headlights meant for halogens will throw all kinds of glare.

the best look IMO is 6000k and that is what I have. i bought from sharphid.com plus i got the wire that has a relay and connects to the battery. great service and a good way to go if you don't buy from richie.

How bad of glare do our headlights throw out there? Anyone have any problem with oncoming traffic or cops?

Projectors necessary?

get 8000k if you want a nice blue look (not too blue, its perfect!). I didnt have any problems with cops when i had mine on....

i think i'm gonna go with the 6000k cause i also want to be able to see the better performance of hid s and anything higher than 6000k seem to start losing its brightness

This is all just opinion. Alerocar says get 6000K, Billy says get 8000K, I say get 4300K...it's all about personal preference on which color you want. The brightest is 4300K.

This is a comparison of an Alero with HID's against TSX HID projectors. The first pic is obvioulsy Gr1m's, but I can't remember who posted the second pic, it was awhile ago:

Stock Alero headlights with HID - A lot of glare at a high angle

TSX HID projector - Less glare at a low angle

so, how important is it to get a wiring harness with the relay for them? wouldn't it work fine with just the plug and play system that most offer?

So.. projectors are mostly a safety feature for other drivers, and secondary direction of light. right?

Plug and play is exactly that, you don't need anything extra to install it.

Projectors spread light better than reflectors and provide a nice sharp cutoff to maximize the amount of light on the road and keep it out of other drivers' eyes. Some cars come with HID's in reflectors, but those reflectors are built with sharper cutoffs to accommodate the extra light from the HID's.

so on that list on mobile HID .com, I select the a lower-on-the-list light if I want a higher "K" # right?
