Led Wiring

I ordered 20 blue leds with resistors.

Not even knowing how to hook them up
and not even know what the resistors do.

i saw that alot of people rave about this stuff so i went ahead and got them and
i just figured i could figure it out with the help of you guys

so can you guys tell me how to hook up these leds any where and what do the resistors do?

20 leds kind of excessive huh?lol

resisters I believe resist to much juice from your battery I could be wrong so if I am then someone currect me on that.

20 LEDs aren't many if you use a few in each spot. Resistors prevent too much current from going thru your circuit so you don't cook the components (assuming you use the right resistor(s)). One of these links should get you started.

Okay here are some basics for led's

ur car probly runs at like 14V's and each led that u put in series is a 0.7V drop

but each led has a maximum current limit. if u exceed that u will blow up the LED's

so for example

if u have 2 led's in series thats a 1.4V drop and a resistor in series.
there is about 12V's accross that resistor.
so take 12V divide by the maximum current that the LED's can handle thats the size resistor u want.....

and work out accordingly to how many led's in series u want.....

^ if you could follow that, its pretty accurate. basically, connect the resistor to either side of the leads on the led. (keep the LED + and - separate) connect power to the longer lead, and ground to the shorter one.

and your done. led lighting... woo hoo!

what voltage are the LED's recommended at......if you hook them up right you could do without the resistors.........tell us where you want the led's, how many you want in each spot, and the specs on the LED's.........

You may want to try and replace your interior lights with them. Mine (dome, mirror lights) are 12V, not 14V. There are a vast number of types of LEDs, a .7v drop is just one of many. Please tell us the specs of the LEDS and resistors and we will be better able to help you. The LEDs I ordered were rated at 3.5V. I will post a pic later.
