Cool update

Ok got my gasket set and helicoils, going to start on it tommorrow. Looks like lifters and pushrods are ok, just need to tap the rocker stud holes, clean up, and assemble everything. Going to try to have her running this weekend. May the force be with me...

Ok everything is good so far but I noticed the rockers with the helicoils loosen up after sitting for a while and I have to re torque them. All but one are staying tight so far. Normal?

loctite

Yes, using blue on everything. they seem to hold ok after i set them and go back over them later a couple of times, but its going to be hard to get an accurate torque on them since the breakover is at 124 inch lbs, and they hit that way early.

Update

Ok, I got tied up a little this weekend with other things and I'm running a little behind, but I'm in final assembly on the upper intake and power steering pump. Should be finished tomorrow, hoping for only pleasant surprises...

All is good...

Fired up Aveline on Halloween night, and she purrs like a kitten. She's very strong and sounds like a new engine. I got to drive her down the road a little and I have to say I'm impressed with how these little cars ride and drive. A word of caution to anyone who does a similar job, keep a close eye on the fuel rail o-rings when you take the rail off, they are not included in the Felpro gasket kit, and GM wants 10$ or more for each. I lost mine and I was able to find a nitrile replacement in an assortment pack at O'Reilly's for 8$.
