Question Brake Caliper Problem (Emergency)

Today I tried to change my brake pads but when I tried to use a c-clamp to push the piston back, it won't go anywhere. After riding for a long time with no brake pads I think I over extended my piston in my caliper. What do I need to do?

also try releasing your brak booster line, it also holds alot of pressure in the master cylinder.

and yes old calipers put up a fight. i use a wood block and a metal c clamp and go really slow.

but if all else fails you can rebleed and remove the caliper and exchange it for a new one at autozone for 30-40$ they are cheap because....they are cheap

And when you get new calipers get a Disc brake pad spreader, its WAY better then using a c-clamp. Its only 8$ and can save you from effing up caliper pistons, even though you piston was most likely effed before you used the c-clamp.

I took off the brake line and used a c-clamp and finally got it back on! Thank you Jesus! But now when I press the pedal, I have to go all the way to the floor. I think I have air in the line. What do I do?

you have to press the pedal up and down a bit before you drive it for the first time and then it'll be normal

If you did remove the brake line, you should bleed the brakes from the caliper you removed the brake line from, if you still are not happy bleed all the brakes.

Warning: if you had to use to much pressure using the c-clamp your piston and or piston wall of the caliper are screwed and is likely to jam on you again. So it would still be a good idea to change the caliper.
