ok, im looking to replace my alternator in my 2001gls, and i came across this thread

how do i know what type of regulator i have? im thinking of getting a used mr. alternator off a 99 3.4L

well since i was the one stuck in that situation the best advice i can give you is to contact the manufacturer of that alternator, having your VIN and the VIN off the vehicle it came off of could help as well. Now I dont know if there really was two different regulators or not, when I had the problem with the first alternator they sent me they could have been blowing smoke up my ass to cover up a faulty alternator who knows, but thats what id recommend.
