^ How do ya take off the cover that says "2.4L TWIN CAM"? It's super easy You just take off the 4 1/2" bolts (right on top) and the 2 10mm ones that hold the 2 pipes that run along the right end (I find this helps a LOT with removal & replacing it) and then unplug the plug that goes into that end under the pipes. Then it just pulls up off the plugs.

When you go to put it back on, make sure to take the black rubber things that go between the cover & the spark plugs and put them on the cover before you try to put it back on.

Yep it was easy. I was able to take it off in about 3 minutes. I'm broke and have nothing to do this weekend so I'm gonna clean it up a bit but instead of using blue, I'm gonna try something different. I don't want to be a copy cat :P

1 Q for you: did it start after you got it put back together? I got mine together and it wouldn't turn over. :o I couldn't figure it out.. then I saw the plug to the alternator hanging there :P I can be such a retard

What color are you doing yours? And just in case you didn't know, it's painted to look like aluminum.. so you might look for chips and whatnot. I just stripped it all off mine. If you're just painting all of it you might not care, but if you want to polish or do like I did you'll want it off there.

How on earth did you get yours soo freakin shiney?? I've been sanding for 45 minutes and barely got the top part done.

Color? I haven't exactly decided yet. I'm thinking a combo between black and red. The only thing that's gonna be red (not bright red) is the 2.4 twin cam part. The grooves are gonna be black as well as the top and around the 2.4 part at the bottom. The rest is gonna be polished. That's what I'm tossing around in my head though. What do you think?

Well, I used a 100 grit sandpaper, then a 220, then I used a 440 to do a wet-sand. These I did in an even circular motion. Then I took the 100 grit and wrapped it around a block and went in single strokes across the lettering. Then I took the 100 and used it with just my fingertips and went in single strokes the length of the cover. You have to press pretty hard to keep it going straight and I would advise only pulling toward yourself and turning the whole thing around to go the other direction because pushing is easier to have it go off sideways.

If you want it more of a polished look, use the 3 grits in ascending order & wet sand with the 440. Then follow it with an aluminum or chrome polish a few times and you can also use a buffing wheel with a fine compound to make it shine like hell

I think what you have in mind will be sweet. Heres a pic of when I had mine masked with black pinstriping, it's the oposite parts of the ridges, but you get the idea.

Well I'm gonna have to get some more sand paper. I only have 100 and 220 right now. I'm done for the night. It's dark outside and I don't want to clean up the mess this stuff makes inside so I think I'll call it a night. Thanks for the help. Hopefully I'll have it finished tomorrow.

And yes, it's one hell of a mess.. make sure to use eye & breathing protection when you paint.. I didn't and I was blowing blue crap out of my nose for a day. I don't think I'll ever learn
