I don't know about having an extra cut key in my car even if it is well hidden.
Once the key is programmed you could theoretically remove the metal part from it. It just needs the transponder part there for the remote start which is contained in the head of the key.

You can 99% for sure use those steering wheel controls with the Pioneer. The AVIC-D3 i got for my mom has a port for them on the back.

Yea, I did also order the harness that makes the stock steering wheel controls. It was an extra $40 or so. And I got the sirius adapter for it.
I also made an appointment with a local car audio place to do the installation and to install a Cobra remote starter. I got it for $250 installed as a BF deal.... it seems to be a good deal because the same remote starter from best buy is $300 installed.
make sure that you get the firmware update with that unit. The original boot times were terrible! ...along with a couple other little glitches that pioneer has worked out.
nice unit, though the 700 did not have DVD playback from disk. You can still watch movies from SD though (I think)
Yea, I will definately get the firmware update. With remote start, boot time should be ok anyway, but the firmware will help. Also, I don't really think I'll ever want to watch a dvd in the car, or if I do I'll use my Zune lol.
