Check out this idea of mine

Ok so I really do suck at using paint, but this is the best that I did. So this is what i think that i could do with the third break light. this is showing the led's being put onto a PCB. I am pretty sure that this would work just fine, and there would be no need for resistors.

The blinkers are my biggest questions, from what you see on here, is that what i would need to do to make a complete circuit? and those would be wired in with the blinker wire that are with the ones going to the normal tails.

So is there any problems that you see here? and do you like the idea?

If run the - to + they won't light you can run lie 4 in a series and still light so will have quite a bi of wires why not just grab an led strip from an impala

pimp is right. + to - will have to be in groups of 4.

Use WHITE leds, not red. (i think you knew that) and I think your over estimating how much room there is in the 3rd brake light. I have 3 rows in mine, and they are absolutely PACKED in there. (65 5mm leds)

You need to measure THEN brainstorm.

red/orange is fine... if the plastic in front of them is white.

with the red cover we have, if you use red leds, it blocks ALL the light they output. Which makes it pointless.

i thot it was opposite that. i know when i got all my bulbs from superbrightleds.com there was a notice saying to use the same color bulbs as the lense. thats what i did, and the red and yellow ones are as bright behind the lenses as the blinkers up front are.

Sorry but cherrington17 is wrong this time. Red lenses PASS red light, etc... This is from optics classes and basic photography. i.e. what color do you see when you look through a red lens and/or what color is the light when a flashlight shines through a red lens. Basic science

i remember looking it up when i did my 3rd brake light, and i used all whites.

it shines as red now, and its pretty damn bright. So.. go ahead and try reds, but I read otherwise somewhere else. (don't remember where)

I second using white. I would just imagine they would be the brightest since they aren't colored. Red would work obviously, but I think it would be duller.

Then again, I'm not up on LEDS. Maybe there isn't as big of a difference. This thinking comes from using regular filament bulbs.

Hey Jhubbz, How did you do the light strip at the top of the rear window and what did you use? Is it hooked to just the tails or brakes also?

Might want to check into this man. Yes, they say they are for a grand am, but they are the same. And only 57.00. If it were me, I would just spend it. That way all you have to do is unscrew the assembly and screw the new one in. Just me though.

aren't the Impala brake lights just one row of 7mm LEDs?

and if red lenses pass red light, why the hell would Scott Summers wear red sunglasses? lol
