2.4L Twin Cam Intakes Question

I was wondering if someone could help me out. I am looking to put an intake on my Alero. I have a 99' 2.4L Twin Cam Engine. I do not want to run the intake tube through the fender well only because where I live the road conditions can be wet from time to time and I don't want to get any unwanted water sucked up into the engine so I guess Im searching for a WAI that will keep the filter in the same position that the stock box is currently in. I was also wondering if someone could help me to decide which intake I need or which would be better. I have posted a few links to items on Ebay if someone could help me to decide which would be better I would appreciate it. I know some are listed as CAI's but I was told that they are actually WAI so any input on that is appreciated as well.

First is a warm air intake, to replace the stock tubing all the way to the throttle body.

The second replaces only the stock airbox; the other box/tubing within the part that attaches to the throttle body remains.

1 is better.

Yep, the first one will work well for you. Pretty much the same one I used to have, and many others have on here.

Cheaper than $32 shipped? That's pretty damn cheap for an actual short ram from the throttle body. Plus when you make your own intake, it usually comes out looking like you made it yourself. If anything just add a K&N or AEM filter to this intake and it'll flow better than just about any other intake for the 2.4.

Just curious Spilner521 why do you not still have the intake on your car?

he's got booooooost. he's got all kinds of custom piping under his hood. no need for a generic one-size-fits-most intake

the problem with those 2 are that it sais "cavalier, sunfire" sure the CAI-WAI will fit any 2.4L but the problem is the room, the cavalier and sunfire have a small space to fit it in as the alero has a bigger space to fill, so the tubing for the cavalier and sunfire are gonna be alot shorter and won't therefore fit an alero, I tryed it and didn't work for me until I got advise about it.

those intakes do work. I have a WAI and Scot (Oldsman) had the CAI. if it didn't fit in yours, you either got the wrong product, or tried installing it improperly.

weird, cause I ordered the product from a professional and he thought I had a Cavalier cause I said I have a 2.4L, took the car in and said nope won't fit, gave me my money back and pissed off, told my landlord about it and said the same thing (he really knows his cars and is helping me out)

my AEM required a little modifications to get it behind the battery and in the wheel well correctly, but the CAI does work if you're determined.

the one i have is identical to the first one, before i hacked it up for my 2.3L manifold ;-)
you'll need a new filter for it though. the stock one is pretty small.

The first one will do above and beyond everything you want...

However, if you want name brand bling bling, go with the AEM or RKSport intake for the chevy cavalier 2.4L, it'll fit. You'll be happy, and have no complaints really.

Exactly. Just get a better filter (K&N, AEM Dry Flow) and it'll flow very well.

bingo....

one intake may claim more gains over another, but considering the weight of the n-body and the minimal gains between intakes of such a bolt on type. just get the first one on ebay, and a k&n filter, you'll be quite happy.

The other things you can do, if you're sticking to STRICTLY BOLT ONS, then you should go w/ a 2.5 mandrel bent exhaust and a straight through muffler. If you don't want to spend the money for a header, I do have a ported exhaust manifold pretty deeply which would help out some of the exhaust flow. I ported the collector to 2.5inches, if you get a matching downpipe w/ an aftermarket cat that is 2.5inch inlet and outlet, all of what can be done at an exhaust place, you'll be in at least a better more efficient flowing mode.

My spare exhaust manifold I'll let go for including shipping, for exactly 2/3's the price of what it is on any website.
