Thanks to Matt and Atomicx for posting the views down the road... it shows a much better view of the actual light output for those of us who want them for actual visual improvement rather than just for looks on the front end of the car!!! Thanks again!

Yeah but once you get to 20k and 30k, they can manipulate what color it is, such as red green pink blue etc

HID's are not meant to look cool. Yes, they do look cool, but their sole purpose is for better road lighting. Better road lighting doesn't happen with blue light.

The designers of BMWs, Mercedes, Acuras, Audis, etc. didn't say to themselves "Hey, lets put 50,000K super ultra blue purple HID's on our cars. You won't be able to see much, but it'll look awesome!"

Okay, dumb question. If I put 4300K hids in my low beams (I have a '99 Alero that uses the high beams for DRLs) would they effectively be brighter than my high beams?

Yes, they would be brighter than 9005 halogen bulbs. But the high beams are still aimed higher.

also gotta add... we've grown/evolved/lived under a yellow sun. pure white led light tends to make things look wierd, because we see better when things are slightly yellow. our eyes are more accustomed to it.

doesn't stop me from using white leds... but i wouldn't want pure white or even blue headlights. IMO.

Mfuller, with your headlights that bright... how much do your fogs really help??

Actually 4300K pure white is very similar to natural sunlight, and is why it comes from the factory on almost every HID equipped car on the road. It is the brightest HID bulb with the most light output and is also the best color for visibility.

The sun looks yellow when you look at it, but then again, you're not supposed to be looking at it

At the very least, save the obnoxious 30k kit for the foglights and have your headlights throw out usable light.

Back when I had my Alero, I had one of those Misterjung kits. It was only 6k, but even that was too blue. Which brings me to my next point; projectors. Take the time and do a retro. At least that way, the light YOU see will be white/yellow, and people that see your headlights in oncoming traffic will see blue/purple. Win win.

damn...can you see anything with 30k's???? I live in Arlington which is a pretty big city, everywhere you go the roads are already lit up to where really you could drive with your lights off. So my 10k work awesome in that, but jus curious, do you see anything with 30k's?

AND!!! Whats the highest temp they make?

Basically, yes.. Technically, no. The design of the original bulb in the fog light doesn't really suit it to be ideal for a HID kit.. The filament of the 894 bulb is radial, where the output of a HID capsule is (usually) axial.

The 9006 headlight is also an axial filament.

No, the performance wouldn't be ideal.

Aside from higher wattage bulbs, I don't think there's much that will make a notable difference aside from replacing the whole fog light.

i was viewing atomics kits they really nice going to be ording 2 kits one for brights and one for my running lights, i was thinking of the 3000k fog but after this im debating, i thought yellow light for fog was the best in performance and visibility
