whats the difference?
So I went to my local dealership today to have an oil change done and while I was there, I figured I would price out a new set of fog lights, as my driver side leaks, and the passenger side bracket snapped after driving to work in the snow last week... The parts guy tells me there are 2 different types, on is the regular set for $75, and then there is a deluxe set for $144. He tells me after running the VIN on my car, that as my car is the GLS, it has the deluxe model... My question is this... what is the difference? I thought there was only one type of fog lights on our cars, and apparently there are 2 different types. Also, if anyone knows, where can I get a set of the "deluxe" sets cheap as I need to replace mine.
Thanks everyone!!!
Tim

Most of the time dealership = B.S. except for recalls and the such usualy example: my dads grand am has the turn signal relay clicking problem, took it in for the recall fix a few weeks back, relay was quiet for a week then started doing it again. at least he paid nothing because it was a recall.

im thinking this "dealership" prolly has some crappy universal sets that fit on any car, and return on a parts search for every car. i have been to dealerships before where they try to sell me universal parts, akin to parts from an Auto Zone or Pep Boys...

144 sounds about right for a fog from a dealer, on my old 'ho after I hit a deer and got it back from the bodyshop I looked at the bill and one fog was 150 on the bill.

I've seen listings for both standard & deluxe Alero fog lamps on ebay with just about the same prices tw0123 quoted above. I've also seen them on ebay for the same $45 quoted by others above. Make sure you know what you're getting when dealing on ebay.

nah i searched our sources and even in aftermarket stuff.. no such thing as seperate models of fog lights
and $75 list for the fog SET (both lights) actually seems pretty correct.
Their cost.. or shop cost, though, is probably half that.
The only thing i can think of is that the regular set may be a generic, universal set, while the deluxe is the custom fit factory style. Dont know.

I paid $150 each from the dealer but not at the same time. Both of mine were crap so I decided to go with new dealer replaced fog lamps.
