low coolant light on, low coolant light off...wtf?

So I searched Tue forums and didn't find anything specifically relating to this...on my way home last night, it was like 97 degrees out, and my low coolant light popped on...car was running at its normal temperature, so when I got home, I checked the coolant level and pressures and everything was normal. I added a bit of coolant just to make sure. I let the car cool off and took it for a drive and the light remained on. This morning on my way to work, my car ran cooler than normal, although the temperature outside was 20 degrees cooler....15 miles into my trip to work, the light went off...so could this be a bad sensor, or is there another underlying issue I should be concerned about? If the sensor is bad, where is it and how do I go about replacing it? Do I need to replace the whole resivour? By the way my car has no leaks in the coolant system...

sounds like the sensor is bad. The sensor is near the fuel pressure regulator or thermostat.

i would replace the sensor you start with the inexpensive fixes before you spend money you do not need to.

no, the sensor you want is in the coolant tank itself. bang the coolant tank a bit. it gets stuck.

i bought a new GM reservoir because the auto parts store version kept sticking.

The OEM reservoir is dirt cheap too. 10 minutes to replace except for the mess with the coolant.
