how did u just rip that metal piece out? It really seems like its on there. I felt around and I found at least one screw. How many screws are there that are attached to it?

if you are talking about that piece there, which i assume you are, i had to twist the shit out of it and it broke free.

yep thats the exact piece. Is it connected at the top or anything? I don't want to take off the fenderwell piece because of those plastic screws that break when you take it off. I took the screws out of the bottom of the fenderwell and just pulled the fenderwell down so i have very limited room.

i think i had to cut it free from the top screw using tin snips lol

i dont see how you will have enough room unless you take the fenderwell half apart. all i did was remove the screws to the front portion, bent it downward and tucked it under the strut assembly. with my wheel turned all the way to the left i had plenty of room.

is your fog light area exposed? My GL didnt come with fog lights so I took off the cover and it rained last night. I noticed this morning there was water laying in the fenderwell. I purchased the one piece intake pipe that sits behind the washer fluid tank. Have you ever had any problem with water getting into your intake?

i have foglights but as long as you have an oiled filter i dont see you having issues with water.

on the water issue, unless you STOP in water above the foglights it will not affect the filter, i drove through water that was above my headlights and it didnt reach my filter, and a heatshield over the filter in the fender is pointless.

Wow, the V6 must have different intake piping. I had to remove my fender liner and the bumper halfway to get mine out.

I put in my intake last weekend. Sounds great. But I didn't go through the process of removing ANY of the fenderwell stuff. Did I just turn my CAI into a WAI, or is sufficient air coming through that tube.

im confused as to where your air filter is....if its outside of the engine bay (fender well) then its CAI, if its mounted after the MAF then its WAI aka short ram.

Just put my CAI on today. I didn't even have to remove the metal bracket. The intake just cleared the metal bracket, but its really snug against the washer fluid tank because the intake came with the heat shield filter. I hope it doesnt rub the tank so much that it punches a hole in it. But it sounds great and added a little power. Thanks for everyones help...

Ok, so installed the intake and its great. The only thing is that I havent driven my car in the rain yet and I am very scared. I spent a hell of a lot of money buying my car and I am very scared of hydro lock. I have a heat shield filter cone that came with the intake. I was wondering if anyone has had any problems with hydro lock in the rain. I live in PA and the roads arent in the best of shape. When it pours, the rain floods across the streets. I was wondering if there is a good chance of hydro lock when you hit a puddle going highway speeds. I was looking into getting the AEM bypass valve, but it only works when the filter is completely submerged in water and you have to be stupid to drive through water that deep. Can somebody please help me.

i cant think of one person who hydrolocked their 3400 motor with a CAI....

do you actually read any of the posts? unless you STOP or PARK in water above the fog lights its not gonna affect your filter, i drove through water OVER MY HEADLIGHTS and water did not effect my filter!
