I'm also looking at this from a tech inspection position. Which means you have to do more than just tie that battery down to be legit for the track.

The cool idea would be to get a smaller sized battery and hide it in your fender.

now that is a novel idea!!!!

and yes from a drag racing standpoint with a rear mounted battery at an NHRA track you must have a visible external shut off switch for your battery.

I've seen it done so many times, it's a nice way to also get away with a very slick wire tuck under the hood. There's a number of spots that you can mount the battery, even in the fender. There's a lot of trick options that you can use.

That engine is coming along very nicely

I want to see some nice welds that look like a perfect row of dimes. Hopefully you have a good welder doing that for you. Aluminum is a little tough.

Its alot better at higher rpms and it lightens the rotating mass by removing the balance shafts

You ditch the balance shafts.

It is not prone to oil pressure drops at higher rpms like the OEM unit is. What does this mean? You have less fear of catastrophic oiling failure when winding the motor out. Which also lets you play with bigger cams.

You lose weight in the rotating assembly.

You lose weight in the engine itself.

Your engine seems to run rougher 2

Nice!

Now strip that thing down, drop it and throw on some lightweight rims and some wide, sticky tires....that car could be quite the beast

I've seen better, but those welds aren't terrible. Like I said, aluminum is tough to weld and make look good unless you have a lot of practice. The proper equipment doesn't hurt either.

I was thinking of something more like this, like a perfect row of dimes
