Not only the elevation, but like nate said, not everyone knows how to drive. You can have one hell of a fast car but if you don't know how to drive it, its kinda pointless.

Well, that's true too. That's why the bracketed sport compact classes are usually easy to advance in. All the kids out to the track in their manual Subis, Evos, etc. many for the first time, missing their shifts or dialing wrong. What they do have is traction, though, where I don't, on DOT tires.

A few reason for teh slowness...
1) High elevation = slower ET's
2) Bad drivers = slower ET's & inconsistent runs
3) Custom rims that weigh more than stock = heavier rotational weight = slower ET's
4) Crappy body kits = interfere with aerodynamic efficiencies = slower ET's
5) Junk in the trunk = too much extra crap in car weighs it down = slower ET's

^yea actually. too high rpm launch for the stall you have, too much throttle off the line hence wheel spin, poor reaction time, etc.

Yeah, power-brake and hold to a much higher than necessary rpm and launch.
