Lost Display on OEM HU

I've been searching the forum to no avail. I took out the factory head unit in an attempt to clean the dust out of it (it stopped playing burnt discs and they come out dusty). After I took the top of the unit off I realized there was still a disc in it. I hooked it back up to eject the disk. When I turned the acc nothing happened. No clock, no nothing. I tried the power button. The unit turned on and started to play the disc, however, still no display and none of the buttons did anything. Only the power and volume work now. So I said screw it and bought a Pioneer but I have to wait for the gmrc-01 to show up before I can put it in. Any ideas as to what happened with the factory head unit? I might get lost driving to work without the clock telling me the way.

A minor update. Yesterday I noticed that both Power/Volume and Tuning knobs both work. But that's it. The only thing worse than listening to the radio is manually finding a station with no idea as to what station you are on.
