This was only happening above 50 MPH, so I figured it was a speed senor, but today on the way home from work I pull out onto the highway, stop at a light. Light turns green, I give it gas, normal accelration, I get upto about 5 mph and it cuts out big time and stops dead. Then it takes off, huge gas smell, and my a/f goes to all the way rich.

OK, I've been having this problem still all this week after the dealer wouldn't fix it. It's not the dealer, it's the GM rep. He won't allow the dealer to fix it due to the O2 Sim and shift kit, among other things.

I took out the sim, and hooked the downsteam O2 back up. The O2 was shot and bringing up a code anyway. I also had a new fuel filter put in. The old one was totally clogged up anyway.

The rep also doesn't like my shift kit. The shift kit however hooks into the hi and low of the tranny pressure soliend.

Now any ideas?. I'm thinking VSS or bad injector. No codes have been brought up. I'm going to the dealer on Monday to fight the rep. I need some standing.

you try running seafoam or equivalent...could be some really bad gas.

Well according to my Haynes Manual it could be your Fuel Filter, Ignition, Spark Plugs, Emmissions Control System, Low Compression, Coil, Vacuum Leak, or the fuel injectors. That is for engine misses durning full speed rance and Hesitation or stumble during acceleration.

After doing some research on the net and my Haynes Maunal, I think is could be an injector being stuck open.

What that would do is dump too much fuel into the motor and then the motor would cut out since it's flooded, but on the same token it could be a spark plugs not firing

Think I'm stopping at Advanced Auto tomorrow morning and picking up AC Delco Rapid fires

OK I stopped at Advanced Auto and picked up AC Delco Plugs and got talking to the guy about the problem I'm having.

He suggested using a bottle of Lucas Upper Cylinder Lubricant and Injector Cleaner. He says it's probably an injector. I said that I didn't think these cleaners were any good but I know Lucas is a good name. He says that this stuff doesn't have all the bullpoop in it like the bigger bottles. It's only 5.25 oz!!!

I put it in and drive home, no highway, all city streets. It cuts out once as soon as I pull out. I figure OK it hasn't worked all the way thru yet.

Get home and park in the driveway. I rev the motor to 3500 RPM's for 3 mintues. doesn't cut out :o . Only took 45 seconds last night to cut out in park.

Rev it again for about 2 minutes at 3750 RPM. DOESN"T CUT OUT

Could it be?!?!?! $3.50 and the problem's fixed?!?! I'll see later. Gonna open it up a bit tonight

not sure how many miles you have or what year you have, but have you considered replacing the injectors?

www.injectors4u.com has them for about $20 each if you decide to replace them. i have seen a lot of the 3100/3400's having to replace/clean the injectors recently.

and that fuel tank injector cleaner really doesnt work.
