Would you buy that?
In the process of changing my water pump and I'm toying with the idea of buying a timing chain kit while playing in that area. Still, some place sells that kit for over 300 $.
Yet I found that out of ebay and wondered if I should buy it:

Would I get absolute crap or not?
the significant difference in price you can get on ebay are always interresting. I got my water pump for 60 bucks shipped instead of 150 at a local shop.

Timing chains are good on our engines. J-body had a thread about it, only one person has had to replace it, others it's all fine trhough 150-200 thousand miles.

maybe, but I've been worried because you need to remove it in order to replace the water pump. I heard reinstalling with used part (The tensionner mainly) could cause some problem with the timing.

i would not trust ebay for something as important as a timing chain. There is a time to use knock offs and times not to. Timing on an interference motor is not a time to use knock off parts.

that is my primary fear. For the pump, I bought it off ebay because it was the same brand as those that were offered to me elsewhere, but at a really higher price.
But I think that for 200 $ extra for the other kit, I would maybe try and put the old stuff back in.
By the way, I think the brand is Cloyes timing chain.

I asked the guy what brand they were and here is his answer:
"we are selling under our own brand. we are ISO factory in taiwan who has great OEM history in the past. We even make parts for most of the brands in USA, such as cloyes, Melling, etc.. we just selling our parts under our own boxes on internet now.
Innerfire
- innerfireengine"
It doesnt seem that bad

You don't even need to worry about the timing chain. The engine will probably need replacing before the timing chain does. If you're worried about the tensioner, get a new tensioner, but that should be fine also, even if you take everything apart.

There's never a time to use knock offs.

lol If I was working full time I would forget about knock off, but these days, they are welcome lol.
Anyways, thx guys for the follow up, I think I'll just get another tensioner and change the pump. Maybe I'll take the opportunity to install an underdrive pulley and change the belt.
