T-stat?

I have seen a couple threads about Thermostats and I cant seem to find a Performance Thermostat for the 2.4. Where do I get a T-Stat for the 2.4?

I havent found one yet, I have tried looking for one for a Cavalier, and The Grandam.

GRRR this is pissing me off that I cant find one.

got mine at Napa it is 15degrees below stock but
it is not a performance name brand.

I already ordered the Haynes Manual so should be no prob if I can find the one that I want.

dude i'm pretty sure thats not where the tstat is, that is where the temp sensor is. THe T-stat is located on the back side of the engine, its just a mess to change it out. Its the black tube in the rear that goes straight down, then L's under the oil pan into the radiator!

yeah, for some reason all the "simple jobs" turn out to be a PITA on the 2.4, you think the t-stat is a pain, try changing the water pump

the T-stst is next to the water pump where the pipe from the rad goes up to the water pump and it's in there.

Oh the 2.4 comes with a 180 deg t-stat already so it is no use to change it out.

I could stick a 160 Degree t-stat in it 180 degrees is a stock temperture for just about every car ever made.

here ya go..........how to replace the thermostat

Disconnect the negative battery cable.
Drain and recover the coolant.
Remove the exhaust manifold heat shield.
Remove the coolant inlet housing bolts through the exhaust manifold.
Raise the vehicle.
Remove the coolant inlet housing stud from the oil pan.
Remove the tire and wheel assembly.
Remove the splash shield.
Remove the bolts from the transaxle-to-engine block brace.
Remove the brace.
Remove the coolant housing pipe.
Remove the thermostat.
Clean the mating surfaces.

Install the thermostat.
Install the coolant housing pipe.
Install the transaxle-to-engine block brace and secure with the bolts. Install the splash shield.
Install the tire and wheel assembly.
Install the gasket.
Install the coolant inlet housing stud to the oil pan. Tighten
Tighten the bolt to 26 N·m (19 lb ft).

Lower the vehicle.
Install the coolant inlet housing bolts through the exhaust manifold. Tighten
Tighten the bolt to 14 N·m (124 lb in).

Install the exhaust manifold heat shield.
Fill the cooling system.
Connect the negative battery cable. Tighten
Tighten the bolt to 16 N·m (12 lb ft).
Inspect the system for leaks.

not true 195 is more common.

I ahve changed thermostats before I changed one in my Shadow and one on a 2.3 liter mustang Race engine so I have the know how to do it.

dood i never said you didn't. just trying to be helpful not demeaning.

but where you took the pic of where you thnk the thermostat is is completely wrong. go to the passenger side and stick your arm down between the motor and firewall and next to the motor by the exhaust manifold towards the timing chain cover and it is down there.

the how too tells you whee it is.
