The box is coming along good. I picked up a 8 foot sheet of 1/2 inch MDF today, then had to have them cut it into 4 pieces so I would fit in my car but I all I really need is about 1 quare foot but they made me buy the whole thing. Anyone ahve any idea how much carpet I would need to cover that box? The only measurement I have right off the top of my head is it is 39 inches at its longest point.

It took 2 yards of 40" wide carpet to cover a 19"x16"x13" box so you should be looking at about 4-6 yards of the same width. My box in the olds that has 2 12" subs right next to each other took 3.5 yards.

It would but I'd get the automotive kind that they have. The automotive kind is a little bit bushier (for lack of a better term) and is easier to conseal seems with. I just went buy and picked up some of the black last week and covered the speaker box going into the Geo. I posted pics on here in the audio section. Look at them so you know what I'm talking about when I say bushier. That carpet that you linked to is flat. Thats the best I can explain it. I checked both out when I went there and liked the automotive kind better even though its about $1 more a yard.

I just ordered 6 yards of black automotive carpet and 2 spray cans of Adhesive for $54.78 <_< which now I realize I could have bought a box for about the same but it wouldnt have been custom. Look at my Elantra Page for the box whih I completed this morning except for carpet.

I was just at Parts Express today. I got stuff to do a ghetto alarm on the Geo. You could have saved a couple of bucks by buying the adhesive from Home Dept or Lowes. If you need any help on carpeting the box let me know.

Since quite a few of us either will or have carpeted it may be a good idea to post some pointers. Descriptions of the process, luck with particular carpets, adhesives, and places to buy. Just a thought.

Carpet will be here thursday, I have friday off and I will attempt to do it if the weather allows. I have to do it outside since I have no garage, so I hope it works out alright.

Your going to see that when you start to cover the box that your going to use more than you think. The box in the alero I thought 2 yards was going to be enough and I ended up having to go back and get a couple more.
