I wanted to start this because i bought my car with 63,000 miles and i now have 85,000........and the pads still dont need to be changed, and the rotors dont look bad....I mean I can tell the difference between now and 20,000 miles ago......but it still stops pretty good....I know lots of you have had problems with how long your pads and rotors last, so iw as wondering what mileage you guys normally change everything?? maybe i am just not noticing that they are getting bad, but i drive lots of other cars(brothers, moms, 6 different company cars and out of them all mine still feels ok).......so as much as this is a question of what your mileage normally is when its time for replacement, i also want some input on why mine are lasting so long.......thanks guys....

well, i got my car with 38k miles. still havent touched the brakes and am pushing 63k miles. i do need to change mine soon though. i took my car to the dealership yesterday to replace a missing wheel stud and the guy took my pads off and brought em to me to show just how bad were they were. i told him that i came in to get the stud fixed not my brakes and to put my pads back on the car. i bought my replacement pads in like july but i have been waiting for americangirl to let me know about some rotors she has so i can change it all at one time. do your brakes pulse at all? mine do.

It really all depends on your drive habits.

Mine usually last about 20,000 to 40,000. I just changed my front pads and rotors and I really didn't have too

so what do you guys recomend as replacements, performance isnt an issue with me, ive heard metallics can eat away at your rotors and i definately dont want those........if i go with a drilled rotor, what should i get.....ive heard raybestos is good, but kinda expensive, what else........

Mine just turned 80,000 miles. I've replaced pads 3x, rotors 2x, and they both need to be replaced pretty soon. First pads went between 20 and 25k.

I had like 48k miles on the rears, and front rotors. Front pad's got replaced at 38k.

But at 48k I replaced everything.

hmmmm. I guess I lock up too much the first time I change my brakes was 25K+ miles, the second time was 58K+, 3rd was 74K+ and the last time was 84k+. my left fornt caliper are locking up. Guess its time for new calipers to go with my new rotors.

I got my car at 28,000miles. Replaced front brakes and rotors at 65,000. Now have 95,000 and still going strong however I really should replaced the rears. In the front I have performance friction pads and powerslot rotors. They have been great so far, no problems.

Well I dont know how good these really are for performance, but there is These ones called Off Shore. They are quite cheap and I am pretty sure that they make them for Alero's.

dont buy cross drilled, ever.

buy slotted

everyone falls into the hype...if porsche's have cross drilled, they must be good. there rotors are made in a mold with those holes there, cross drilled have those holes put in after, besides, you loose less contact area with slotted.

mine pulse too, i have plenty of stopping power though. i plan on replacing them in the spring

if you think about what you said, about slotted having more surface area then drilled you might want to rethink that..depending on how many slots there are.........the slots are continuous through the rotor compared to drilled being one little hole per every so section......that can be argued about surface area......but i agree about the drilling after the rotors been done compared to it being done before, thats why you find a company that does it right and thats why they usually cost an arm and a leg cause they were done right.......

For a street-driven vehicle, just stick to regular, plain rotors (skip the slots and/or drilled holes). Truthfully, stock-sized rotors are too small for how much this car weighs (especially with the V6), and slotted and/or drilled rotors just make the problem of too little rotor mass worse.
