PS Groaning

Power steering has been losing fluid and I haven't figured out where yet. Then last time after topping it off, it is still groaning even with the fluid full, so I think its been damaged from being driven while under low fluid.

I'm thinking maybe I'll drain the system, and then refill with some synthetic ATF, maybe that will stretch the PS a lil further. What you guys think?

Try Lucas, they make stuff for the oil and power steering. I would never use the stuff for the oil though, my Cutlass hated that stuff. Power steering stuff might be better.

Yeah, I used to use that in my camaro. But I thought it was just stop leak, didn't know it was 'conditioner'. lol

There are other products out there. I think "Stop Leak" is actually a brand name, and they do make something for your power steering. Just go to a parts store and start looking at the stuff they have on the shelves. Remember - you get what you pay for.

disconnect one of the lines at the bottom of the rack, it doesn't get all the fluid but its the lowest point in the system

If that don't work at least you can get your money back from Lucas.

actually yes. lubed her up, duct taped the mouth, put her back in the closet, she was good to go again in no time.
