Wierd Noises in Front End....???

Hello All,

Been reading this board for a while now, love this place!!!

Got a question now... I just bought a 2003 Alero 4dr, GX.... It's had about 74000kms on it when I bought it, up too about 79000 now... When I bought it, the dealer told me they needed to replace all the brakes to pass safety...

Now the brakes make a lot of noise when braking, sqeaking, so obviously he screwed me there, and didn't replace anything for brakes... But there also now a very wierd noise in the front end...

The last few days now, when Braking a little harder then normal, there's a really loud noise, probably related to crappy pads....

The part thats bothering me though is when I bought it, there was a noise in the front passenger side occasionally, kinda sounded like something was loose, could even hear it on smooth roads... After a bit, it basically went away... But now it's back, 100% worse, and it now sounds like it's coming from the front end, in the middle, not just the passenger side anymore...

Any ideas?

Thanks Guys....

Again, love this site, tons of great information and ideas....

our stock brake pads and rotors are crappy. i would recommend an upgrade to performance parts.

I'm definatly getting the brakes fixed, but it's the noise in the front end thats really bothering me... It couldn't be from the brakes could it? It only makes the noise while driving, not braking....

if it's a humming sound then it's most likely a wheel baring witch is very $$$$$.

Thanks for the replies guys, guess I should have explained the noise a little better......... It's not a humming sound (Mind you, now that you mentioned it, I do get a bit of a humming sound sometimes when turning the steering wheel...), but the noise in question right now is more of a clunking, somethings loose, sound. There's no pattern to the noise, it's not worse when I hit a larger then normal bump in the road, and it's not there all the time... I can drive one day and not hear it, then the next day it could sound like the front end is going to fall off....
