Stock Alero Paint Color Question

I was just curious if any of you guys knew anything about this paint color. It is my absolute favorite color that the Alero was offered in but it is almost impossible to find any for sale with that paint. I think the color is Electric Blue Metallic, but I'm not even sure of that.

Basically I'm just curious if it was only offered one year or was a special order or something like that. Not really important but i did a lot of searching and didn't really come up with anything. Thanks

this color (even searching google images i only found two photos of this color)

I think it's aftermarket or special order cause I've never seen it before.

slownlow43 is an unknown quantity at this point
I doubt its special order. I'm kinda wondering if it's an earlier model only option. I dated a girl who's sister had one (99) and the manager of my local Subway both have Alero's in that color. One a 2 door, the other a 4 door.

Edit: I know GM deleted a few color options from their lineup in 99 for Grand Ams. Maybe its a pre-99 only color.

The easiest way to tell if that is the "Electric Blue" is to look at the year. According to my Oldsmobile 2000 Year Model Sales Consultant Book ... Electric Blue was only available on a 2000 Alero no other years or makes in 99 had that paint option and it was discontinued for the 01 Model Year.

Thank you Strtrydr, that answers my question, I thought maybe they only offered it for one year...kinda sad though. I wonder why they discontinued it after 1 year...

As far as I know there were three different "Special" colors and where only available in certain year/trim options.

1999 - "Gold Metallic" / All trims
2000 - "Electric Blue Metallic" / All trims
2004 - "Dark Cherry Metallic" (I think that's the name) / Final 500 Package Only

That's the only limited/special colors that I'm aware of for production models ... I'm sure Oldsman, Oldsnut, and a couple others would be able to confirm this or correct/add information.

Cliff is right ...a GX trim'd alero would have non-painted mirrors.

Only issue I have with that statement is if it is "Med Gulf Blue Metallic" ... then the car is not a 2000. I have the 2000 Year Model Sales Consultant Book and it does not list that paint option for any oldsmobile.

Also, I did notice that the image is definitely one of GX trim'd alero ... Those hubcaps were only on the GX and of course the mirrors are not painted.

Color name isn't always as accurate, sometimes they use the same color with different names for different product lines.

My Alero might be that color. It might be a little darker though. Mine is Blue Opal Metallic. It's a 1999 GL. The paint code number is WA-305D or 24-305D. It's one of those. I think the first one... I've also seen an Intrigue in the same color as my Alero.
