be sure when you get your eco it has the updated timing chain tensioner in it, if not do it asap. might even just go get the updated timing kit for the motor. if not you will lose timing eventually. some eco's also like to eat oil. check the valve cover for the heat stake markings. theres a thread floating around about that. and also the intake manifold oil orifice on some are too big. if you can fit a 5/32 drill bit into it than it is no good. other than that it is a great motor IMO. great for modification and there is loads of parts for it out there. also don't forget the tranny. haha and all the linkages. i've had my eco apart 4 times so just ask if you get stumped on something haha

ahhh, makes it alot easier and less expensive than haha. thanks, i did not know that.
and yaaaa, effing sucks. i beginning to think that motor was swapped with an 04 ecotec. because that year was known to have the most problems. besides my mishaps with it i love the motor. i'm not complaining i'm just saying he should look into it so he doesn't have to do what i did lol

I've done it. Make sure you have patience
Mine turned out as good as new, but I probably wouldn't do it again unless I had all the parts for cheap, as well as Tech 2 access.

If you are swapping, it better be a 5 speed, otherwise this thread is FAIL!!!
