last night coming back to my college which was about 250 miles
from home. i hit a remarkable 33 MPG!! i had a lot on my mind
mostly my chick.. so i didnt want to go to fast. my speeds where
from 55-70 and i keeped it under most of the time 2000k, i
usually waste a full tank on that drive but i used 7.4 gallons
i guess the 3.4 can go a long way. but i dont think ill be doing that
agian!!!

I usually drive like a bat out of hell on the hiway. My usual Edmonton to Calgary trip is about 300km (180 miles) and takes about half a tank (20 litres, 5 gallons). Holy crap!!! that's like 36 mpg, something's gotta be wrong with my math, no way does my car get that kinda mileage. Of course I've got the 2.4L which is probably a little more efficient that the 3.4L.

You might even be right.

Yeah i know what your talking about, my gas mileage recently dropped quite a bit too. I'm gonna flush the coolant out next week just to see if that does anything.

Daytona is on a distinguished road
I get 21-22 mpg in normal driving to/from work and around the area. On long non-stop trips, keeping the speedometer between 65-80 the whole way, I've done much better. On 1 trip I got almost 37mpg!!! This weekend I got close to 30 after driving two 2.5-hour legs of a trip. It might even have been 30 but I then drove locally the next 2 days which diluted the numbers alittle.

97,000 miles, you must do a lot of driving...Anyways, yeah some mods you put on your car can improve your gas mileage, and some can decrease your gas mileage. A better muffler system will enhance a little but not that much. Also suggested having your fluids changed on time, replacing your air filter every 9-12 k miles. And also after an oil change, a gas treatment might help also and they also claim to take care of rough idling.

not to sure what the ol' alero is getting anymore, cause my fiance is driving it. the best I ever got was 39 mpg, ran for an entire tank at 70 mph. but I miss the 20 doillar fill ups. My truck is getting 16 mpg, with the 4.8l V8. That 34 gal. tank is costly to fill up, really sucks with how high gas prices decided to go. last fillup was $50, cachunk.
