|

Nice John! I was wondering when you would post it over here.
What will all be included for those nuts enough to go with the upgrade kit?
|
not sure of a kit but pullies, fuel system, intercooler, custom computer, stuff like this will be offered as upgrades

did u start installin it yet???
any pics of the beginnings of teh installation
|
Install is a few months out
first we have to have a longer drive shaft made
then mounts for it
then the inlet and outlet.
after all that is complete install begins
at that time the kit will only be a few weeks away from completion. except for computer tune.
kits will be built to order most likely with what ever they decide to include in the kit.
installation will be available.
but I may produce only limited numbers of these kits.
that is all things to be thought of
first we have to get the kit completed

no kidding...2.4 gets screwed again.
|
there are many parts out for the 2.4L
however if reaction is good enough a kit could be produced.
but with the power I crave I doubt a stock 2.4 would hold it

you'd be surprised. the head would have to be replaced but the block is rather stout and surprisingly strong. as for turbo-aspirated boost, unless you have a manual, controlling the spooling of the turbo will be quite difficult. for a while, i was thinking of going with a turbo since so many j-bod guys had done it, it would be easy to get opinions on different kits. but i would have to convert to a 5 speed, which is a lot of work. to change direction, what does the 3400 reaction have to do with the 2.4? you have to figure that the reaction is going to be minimal no matter what you do, with people saving up for it. there isn't going to be a massive rush to get it like with OSV emblems or indiglo gauges. this is a serious chunk of change, one that will take many people a year or more to save up for, if the saving for a super/turbo kit hasn't already begun. what may be a good idea is seeing how many j-bod parts are interchangable with n-bod parts and attempt to spread awareness to the j-bod community as well. the 2.4 community is arguably larger and more performance oriented, especially when j-bods are taken into consideration. i would love a supercharger kit. especially if that supercharger was a twin screw whipple.

well
if I don't recover costs in the 3400 kit I'm not going to go further in the hole to make a kit for the 2.4L.
and there are more 3400/3100 n-bodies than 2.4L n-bodies.
yes it may fit the J-body but there are allready at least 3 turbo kits and 2 supercharger kits for the 2.4L
there isint as much compitition for the 3400 sc kit.
but tell ya what
get 5 people interested and I'll figure out the costs the best I can
you front the cash I"ll install for free but I need your car throught the process to mold parts to.
so living close to colorado springs would prolly be a good thing.
but the reason I doubt it will hold my kind of power is because I push further than most ever would
I was running 10 psi on my stock 3400.
and the 3400 has seen as much as 15 on stock internals

anyone intrested the above parts are available for 1900.
building a kit will be to hard to compete since shipple raised their prices
the head unit alone now goes for 1900

Do any places out there produce a S/C kit for the ecotec? I would love to start saving now if it does exist.....is an upgrade to the tranny an essential with an automatic? (stupid question but just wanna know what might be needed to be done if I do get a S/C in the future)

Yep. For the money I think I would look at HP's turbo. 300 whp can be down with that.

I should say you can do 225 and the tranny should, I stress should, hold up and that would be about about 5#s. Its been bumped to 9#s and he was at about 284 tq and 268hp or something like that. @ 12 #s he should be over 300 for both tq and hp. But anything over 5#s and a new performance tranny will be needed and that will run about 3 grand.

Think of it this way, unless you bought the alero new off the lot, I highly doubt you paid more than $12,000..... throw a performance tranny and the S/C on there and you can be about about $23,000 installed (if having a professional install and all)... which gets you around 300hp in a unique car to whereas u could have saved maybe $1000 or so for a new baseline mustang, ill keep my alero personally....my 2 cents..... (maybe my prices are high, but i threw down about $11,500 after all expenses for my 02 alero last June with 25,000 miles on it)

yea i got my alero for a song and a dance, but its still alot of cash and for me its even more cause I live in Canada and the prices are all in US funds. Im not saying i wouldnt do it if i had the money, all im saying is that its alot of money for those types of gains......
