spoiler removal questions.

I've been dreaming about spring lately and have been thinking about what stuff I'm going do to my Alero once it warms up. I want to get rid of the spoiler because I think the back end looks nicer without it. I know how to remove it, but would the paint underneath the spoiler legs be a different shade or have some noticable difference to the surrounding paint on the trunk? Also, I don't want to pay to have the holes filled in and the trunk repainted. I think that if I got some nice screws, sanded down the heads to be flat and painted them to match, it wouldn't look too bad. I would use some kind of gasket sealant on them so they wouldn't leak or anything. Would this be lame/rice? Another alternative is to find a spoiler-less trunk in a junk yard and simply trade my spoiler trunk for it. However, I don't live near any junkyards that have newer vehicles in them. Any ideas or opinions would be helpful.

i don't think the screw thing will look good at all. you may be able to trade with someone on the board or locally, but it might be a little pricy to ship.

they sell little round plastic (?) snap thingies w/ gaskets that are made specifically for filling in the holes left behind from spoiler removal. you could paint those to match your car and it would be the cheap route, but getting a new lid would probably look better...

trade trunks or buy one from a junk yard....it will cost just as much to get a shop to fix the holes.

And bolts stickin out would be super gay

If you put screws in that are the same color they're going to look like screws painted the same color if you're close enough to see them. If you don't get close enough to see them, do you really care what they think about your trunk? As for the question about the color diference, if you live in the sun you can probably tell, if your alero is more than 3 years old you might notice some. If you're anal then 2 years. Eventually though the car will tan just like everything else the sun sees. I'd agree, replace the trunk, and don't drive across country for one.

pull it off and go with the color matching push tabs. then new trunk lid or fill in the holes with a welder(experience required).

Its just a joke because you were labeled a ricer. At least I'm saying your not a cheap bastard If you can't take a joke you would have left long ago when people were ragging on you for your earlier posts. Either way, you can't edit your own polls. People would probably make fun of me too if I actually did something to my car.

A note on rice: A ricer is a person who does modifications to their vehicle in order to look as if they race (and are quick) and/or have performance modifications.

However, people now call any modification to a vehicle they do not find attractive, or to their sense of style, "rice."

It is for these reasons some call your modifications rice, mine, and others. The difference is that I do not have the intent to look as if I have a nine second car; I like the design and style of what I've done, and what I intend to do (add the AAS kit, 18" wheels, etc).

Summary: People have different senses of style. Some people won't like what you do. Don't care. (Unless you really do think visual modifications will affect your performance)

yes, im sure most females would rather jump in a nice looking car than a fast one and i would rather drive around in a more attractive car! So i guess i will stay rice in that sense lol.

But in reality, rice = food & ricer = asian. Those are the original terms and still stand in my book as the official.

ok its gonna cost ya just as much with a junk yard deck lid then it would be to fill in the holes
but my professional opinion would be this get the deck lid from a junk yard but look over it for dents you will be surprised i have seen allot of good metal come from junk yards
have the shop install and paint, you will be better off

The trunk lid would be cheap, because I would just exchange it for my current one and they would both be the same color.

color will be different under the spoiler, mine was different just when I took emblems off and I can still see a difference and theyve been off a year..
