Hey yall. Your misfire problem could be a rocker issue. The Gen III 3400 that the Aleros have, utilize a roller rocker with steel bolt in an aluminum head. I've had this problem happen on mine 3 times. What happens is that heat build up weakens the threads in the head and they eventually pull out resulting in rocker failure. They basically loose all spring tension and float. The Intake and Exhaust Valve stay closed creating a dead miss, fouled, and saturated plug. There is an inexpensive fix if you are mechanically inclinded. A heli coil kit is available to repair the problem. If done properly this will fix the problem with much satisfaction. Any other questions let me know.

The helicoil kit costs $35 to $50. The work can be done with a few hand tools. Will take a couple of hours, but u must be very careful. I would recommend pulling the valve cover off first so that you can check the rockers. If that is problem I can give you some helpful tips to help make the job go smoothly.

I have not, can I do this with the motor still in the car?? Cause I dont have access to an engine hoist or anything. I may just have it taken into a shop and have them rip it apart and take a look, cause I dont really have the time for something like that....
