The problem is combination of DRLs and manual lights. People drive around thinking their lights are on because the daytime running lamps are on 24/7 anyway and they can see. That's not the "auto headlights" they're referring to.

On the Alero, the headlights, parking lights, and tail lights come on automatically as one system when the light sensor deems it dark enough, and you can turn them on manually if need be. Perfect system.

Way back in the dim and dusty, I had a kit installed that was invented by a couple of guys (in Indiana, IIRC) that piggybacked the BCM, and gave me complete control over my headlights, in addition to disabling the daytime running lights without triggering a SVS on the IP.
Unfortunately, I think it's a bit of an electrical draw since I can't go much more than a week without driving my car before my battery is dead.

really no tail lights? I could have sworn my auto lights turned on everything. Ill have to check it next time my son comes over.
