couple of problems

first we'll start with the dancing speedometer. whenever i go anywhere over 25mph, it jumps back and forth, making it impossible to tell how fast i'm going.

second we have the buzzing sound whenever i hit 2200 rpms. it sounds like the buzzer you hear on a gameshow when you get an answer wrong. only at 2200 though, nothing when over/under.

third, whenever i accelerate, my car keeps jolting. first it'll jerk forward like i just stomped on the gas, then it'll jerk back like i just downshifted (even though i have the automatic).

any ideas?

I think it sounds like you might need a new gauge cluster, the jerking part I have no idea.

speedometer: the motor for that gauge is busted/worn. a new cluster is the only way you would be able to fix this. (and with a little work, you can get that new motor and keep the chip from your cluster to keep your miles.)

buzzing: I have no idea...

jolting/jerking: I don't know for sure, but you might want to make sure your fuel system is clean. Check spark plugs, oil and other fluids (even the transmission fluid) and clean the throttle body. (if you have an aftermarket intake, you already know that I mean the butterfly valve in the TB). if it is still doing that stuff after you've done all this maintenance.

get your car scanned somewhere though. if it throws a code, you'll know for sure.

Buzzing can generally be something like a heat sheild...check that and make sure it is tight....the one on the exhaust manifold.

it seems the buzzing sound has gone away. dunno why. anyway, i tried cleaning the tb, and added some fuel injection cleaner to the gas tank; no luck. i will be changing the spark plugs soon. i know my tranny fluid prolly needs changed, but i doubt that would cause the jerking. it seems to only happen between 2500-3500 rpms. could the tranny fluid be low and be the cause?

here's an update:
i installed the new gauge cluster, but to no avail. the speedometer still rapidly jumps up and down.
the shifting is becoming annoying, as anytime i press the gas it keeps jerking. does anyone know what the cause of these problems could be?

Don't know about the jerking. As for the dancing speedometer, faulty Vehicle Speed Sensor (VSS) maybe...

how would i go about replacing that? cost and such?
yeah, the rpms are jumping nearly as bad as the speedometer, and the car jerks along with it.

have you had it on a scanner yet?

rather than replacing this and that............goto a shop have them check it out and find out what it is then buy the part and put it on. with our ECU now a days there isn't much guess work.

mine was doing the same thing when i bought it, i replaced the speed sensor and it stopped. the speed sensor was causing the ecu to read wrong and it caused alot of problems.
