Question Trunk won't open with engine running?

Is there any way to open the trunk with the door button while the engine is running? This is kinda annyoing (especially in the winter when the engine is cold) to shut off the engine every time u need to open the trunk.

Do you have the car in gear or just running?

Is the lock out switch turned on?

Nope just running. I have to shut the car off to open the trunk. The lockout isn't on. Doesn't this happen to anyone else?

Yeah... well.... what if your buddy thinks its funny to switch your "lock out" switch on and then shuts your trunk. I cant get in my trunk right now cause everything in the trunk lid is shaved which means... no key hole.

HOW DO I GET INTO MY TRUNK TO SWITCH THAT SWITCH OFF!?!?!?!?!

The rear seat fold down releases are in the trunk... the button to pop the trunk wont open it cause the switch is turned on. And... i cant seem to find any bolts to take the rear seat itself out

Im kinda in a delema here and as soon as i get into that trunk the first thing thats happening is im takin that f'in switch out or off!

haha...oops...my guess would be to take the back seat out...there aren't any bolts...you just have to pull up on the front and then as tough as it might be to get the bottom of the seats unswiveled...besides that man, i dont know...thats f'd up

hahaha, that's too funny....yeah, try pulling up on the seat bottom and remove it, then unlatch the seat-backs from the bottom center, then pull the lower center out, squeeze into the trunk and pull that yellow latch (emergency trunk release) from the inside.

I talked to a GM tech today and he said the the body control module might not be seeing that the trans. is in park, which wouldn't let the trunk open. I'm gonna have him hook up his reader to it and see if it is seeing park. Hope is't an easy fix so i can fix it.

You can also try putting on the parking brake as well. I know that's how my chevy is. My alero works as long as I'm not moving.

i dont think that will work. cuase the seats are still latched at the top of the seat.......... so even if you can unlatch the bottoms they are still attached via the top latch that he cant release cause he cant get in the trunk.

i think your effed dude

you're right brent, i was thinking maybe he could pry the bottom apart a little bit and reach somethign up there to grab the latch...also when you do get this thing figured out, i think you need to break that trunk lock out switch or something so its always off

My car doesn't even HAVE that trunk lockout switch. I was looking for it.

My white alero had the yellow (I shut myself in the trunk) release, but my red one doesn't. It just had the lockout switch. Weird, they are both the same year too... Both 01's.
