Subs to a Stock Head Unit

I have 2 10" kicker subs in a box and i have an amp for them and i had them hooked up to my sony deck but that recently just shit out on me and i dont have the money right now to buy a new deck and i dont wanna just buy a cheap shit one so i was wondering if anyone figured out how to hook an amp and subs up to the stock stereo deck. I have a 99' alero with the cd/tape deck head unit. if anyone could help me out that would be awesome, thanks

Line output converter. Easy install and only like $5 at your local car audio store. All it does is convert your rear speaker signals to an rca, giving you an audio signal to your amp. You still have to run a remote wire which can be hooked to an ignition wire, telling your amp to power on and off.

^exately what he said, its really easy to do. personally i'd just go and buy a cheap aftermarket deck tho, you can get em for $100.

Your amp doesn't have high level inputs on it?

Those Line output coverters come with 2sets of wires to hook to each rear speaker, and from experience you don't need the other speaker hooked up. If you get the one with the adjustable level I would turn it all the way down first before adjusting the level then turn your radio up to a comfortable level and adjust to where you feel comfortable.

I second Cliff here, high level input is your BEST option with a stock head unit, and I've never seen an amp without high level as an option, so see if you can do that.

High level inputs rarely work good or correctly.

really? Mine has high level inputs, dont use um tho, cuz I have RCAs, but its an option, and my amp isnt even that amazing, my friend with MTX something (I wanna say it was a terminator... donno) has high levels as an option- again doesnt use it. I just thought it would be good if you had only a stock head.

I got two 200watt Crossfires with high level inputs but I wouldn't use them though to much added noise.

The trouble is paying $150-$250+ for these fancy LOC's. Hey its fine if you got a very new car with a radio thats pretty much non replaceable.

But for Alero's its just silly when for the same or less you can have a REAL head unit.

Scroll down to "Two-Channel High Quality Line Level Adapter" in a blue bar. Get that one.
