I got the tips from darksun last week I am going to get them put on but I have a question, would these be better if I just cut the tips off the stock muffler or if I cut the stock muffler off and put them on the end of the pipes, I ask because on the inside of the tips they look like this , looks like some type of fiber glass or someting in them.
and I am not sure what to do.

i would leave the muffler on....i would imagine that with the just those tips on the end of the pipe it would be loud as hell and not very pleasing to the ears

depends what motor...i went straight pipe, no resonator for a while, wasn't bad...just don't take trips longer then 2 hours...lol...
what you could do is chop out the muffler, put a glasspack after the resonator, and have just the tips stickin out...that way you're still muffled, without the big ugly muffler

Those pieces of metal sticking out (louvered? spelling..) look like they would restrict more flow than the perforated style.

lol i did...and yeah...maybe check into the glasspack..used to be called "cherry bomb" big red tubes...its basically a straight through muffler, but actually muffles a lil bit, and will get rid of the raspiness that the 2.4 has on a straight setup...check canadian tire type store, shouldn't be more then $40CAD...

That's what's known as a resonated tip - those bumps are designed to break up the airflow to allow for a deeper/quieter sound.

OK boys/girls I was at the shop today just got back he can do it for me for like 50 bucks, but I was wondering what does the 2.4l sound like without the catalitic converter on it, he suggested that he could just cut it cut run straight pipe in its place leave the stock muffler on and cut the stock tip off it then put my tips on.
Any idea what it would sound like without the cat converter on it???
